VOLUNTEERS & CASH TO HELP REFOREST THE MASAYA VOLCANO NATIONAL PARK
Fires lasting three weeks have devastated 25% of the woodland of the precious MVNP. The virgin Pacific dry forest is part of only
2% which remains of this type of ecosystem in the world. It is irreplaceable, but we have to try! This park and the tourism it brings
provides essential livelihoods in the neighbouring communities. Please donate if you can.
La Mariposa put its best effort into trying to help fight the fires....we sent a brigade of up to 20 volunteers, purchased
equipment, tanks of water, sent food and drinks for the fire fighters.
There are lots of photos on our facebook page.
Now we have to help the park rangers with the replanting.
La Mariposa tree nursery has over 500 of the correct varieties of trees just waiting to be planted but we need volunteers to help us.
Contact us if you are interested. You can combine working at the volcano with Spanish classes or with our activity program.
You can either come as an individual or with a university/college/church group.
