Customized agendas for your group – incorporate all (or some) of the following:

Excellent Spanish classes

Classes (one on one or small groups) are held in the study center and taught by trained and experienced teachers of the Mariposa Spanish School.

You may choose to include a specific focus in classes, such as Spanish for professionals (medical, educational, legal, etc.) or the environment with our Environmental Spanish Program.

Special presentations & lessons

  • History and politics – understand better Nicaragua’s position in the global economic system
  • Environmental issues – learn how global issues affect us locally and how local changes impact the global situation
  • Salsa or folkloric dance and music – watch performances or join in a lesson!
  • Traditional medicinal plants – visit a naturalista for a presentation
  • Pre-Columbian art – see wonderful examples, some of which were discovered whilst digging the foundations of the study centre!

Excursions & activities

Visits to places of interest and beauty which are within an hour of the Mariposa such as Granada, Masaya, the Masaya Volcano and National Park, El Chocoyero Nature Reserve, Mombacho Volcano, the Laguna de Apoyo. We can also arrange special tours such as our ECO-ADVENTURE PROGRAM, and trips further afield. Read more detailed information in our ACTIVITIES DESCRIPTIONS section. Note – activities will be scheduled as part of a separate agenda for your group, rather than during the regular scheduled times offered for individual students.

Volunteer & community service

Volunteer in a clinic, children’s center, help with reforestation (in the wet season) preservation of wildlife, on our organic farm, or with building projects. read more details about each type of volunteering in our VOLUNTEER section.

Visit the community

Be part of the barrio of San Caralampio. Walk through pineapple fields and groves of orange trees, visit local schools, health centers, places of worship, even the police station. Learn about education, health, rural issues, and hang out and have fun with local teenagers and children.

Learn about problems and discuss possible solutions in the country and in the community. We can introduce you the Mayor of La Concha, the head of police, and workers in the local health and education systems.

PLEASE NOTE – all activities are accompanied by appropriate guides and translators.
